How to use the Image Filter & Enhance

  1. Drop a photo on the box, choose one, or paste it.
  2. Tap a preset, or move the sliders. The preview updates as you go.
  3. Press and hold Compare to see the original.
  4. Choose a format and download the full-size result.

What do photo adjustments do?

Brightness makes the whole image lighter or darker; contrast widens or narrows the gap between light and dark; saturation controls how intense colours are. Filters such as sepia or black and white combine these to give a particular look.

How it works

The preview uses your browser’s built-in image filters, so it updates instantly. When you download, the same adjustments are applied to the full-resolution image on a canvas. On browsers whose canvas does not support filters (older Safari), the tool applies them pixel by pixel with matching maths.

Useful for

  • Rescuing photos taken in poor light
  • Giving a set of images a consistent look
  • Black and white versions for print
  • Softening a background image behind text

Limitations

  • These are global adjustments; they affect the whole image, not selected areas.
  • Heavy brightening of a very dark photo also brightens noise.
  • Blur on a very large image can take a few seconds on older phones.

Questions

Will the filter reduce my photo’s resolution?
No. The download has the same pixel dimensions as the photo you added.
Can I undo a filter?
Yes. Every slider has a Reset, and the Original preset puts everything back. The original file on your device is never changed.

Install the SBGeeks app
