Local SEO services that put you in front of nearby customers

When someone searches for what you do in the area you serve, three businesses appear on the map. We work on the signals that decide which three.

  • Google Business Profile audited, optimised and managed
  • Review generation that follows Google's policies
  • Citations cleaned up and kept consistent
  • Built for storefronts, service-area and multi-location businesses

What is local SEO?

Local SEO is the work of making a business visible in location-based searches, in Google Maps and in the "map pack" of three listings that appears above the organic results. It centres on the Google Business Profile, reviews, consistent business listings, and a website that makes clear what the business does and where.

Google describes three factors behind local rankings: relevance (how well the business matches the search), distance (how close it is to the searcher or the place named), and prominence (how well known and well regarded it is). You cannot move your premises, so the work goes into relevance and prominence: a complete, accurate profile, a steady flow of genuine reviews, consistent name, address and phone details across the web, and local content and links.

This is the area SBGeeks has specialised in longest. The services below can be taken individually or as one managed programme, and they sit alongside our broader SEO services for the organic results beneath the map.

Signs you need it

You are not in the map pack

Competitors appear in the top three for your main services and you are below the fold or missing.

The profile is incomplete or wrong

Categories, hours, services or the service area are missing or out of date, and nobody has posted in months.

Few reviews, or unanswered ones

Competitors have more recent reviews, and critical ones on your profile sit without a reply.

Listings disagree with each other

An old address or phone number survives on directories, undermining trust in the details Google holds.

How we work

  1. Audit

We review the profile, the listings, the reviews and the site, and benchmark them against the businesses currently in the map pack.

  2. Fix the foundation

Profile, categories, services and listings are corrected first. These are one-off changes with lasting effect.

  3. Build activity

Posts, photos, review requests and responses become a weekly routine, because recent activity is a signal in itself.

  4. Report

A monthly report covers calls, direction requests, website clicks, review growth and ranking across the service area.

What you receive

  • A written profile audit with a prioritised plan
  • A fully completed Google Business Profile
  • A citation report showing every listing found and fixed
  • A review request workflow your staff can run
  • A monthly report on calls, clicks, directions and rankings

Who it suits

  • Businesses with a storefront, clinic or office
  • Service-area businesses such as trades and home services
  • Multi-location and franchise groups
  • Agencies that want white-label local SEO delivery

What it costs

Google Business Profile management plans start at $359 a month for a single profile, with setup and annual-billing options shown on the pricing page. Audits, citation work and review programmes can be bought separately. Plans run month to month.

Questions we are asked

How does Google rank local businesses?
Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance comes from an accurate, complete profile; distance is fixed by where you and the searcher are; prominence comes from reviews, links, citations and how well known the business is.
How long does local SEO take?
Profile corrections can change visibility within weeks. Building review volume and prominence against established competitors usually takes three to six months of steady work.
Do I need a website for local SEO?
A profile can rank without one, but a website strengthens relevance and prominence and gives customers somewhere to check details before they call. We build these through our web development service.
Can a business without a storefront rank on Google Maps?
Yes. Service-area businesses can hide their address and define the areas they serve. The profile, reviews and local content matter all the more, since there is no walk-in location.
Do you work in my city and industry?
We work with local businesses across the United States. See our guides by industry and by location.
Is it within Google's rules to ask for reviews?
Yes. Google encourages businesses to ask customers for reviews. What it prohibits is paying for them, offering incentives, or asking only customers you expect to be positive.
