Websites built to be found and to convert

Design and development by a team that also does SEO, so structure, speed and tracking are right from the first line of code.

  • Search-ready structure, metadata and schema built in
  • Fast on mobile, tested against Core Web Vitals
  • WordPress, custom PHP and ecommerce
  • Redesigns planned so existing rankings are kept

What does a web design and development service include?

Web design and development covers planning a site's structure, designing its pages, building them in code or a content management system, and launching and maintaining the result. A build done with search in mind also includes URL planning, page speed, structured data, analytics and, for redesigns, redirects from old pages to new.

A site can look good and still fail the business. The usual causes are structural: pages that load slowly on a phone, content hidden from search engines, no clear next step for the visitor, and a redesign that changed every URL without redirects. These are far cheaper to prevent during a build than to repair afterwards.

For an example of a full build, see GBP Pin, the local rank-tracking platform we designed, developed and launched ourselves.

Because we also run SEO and paid campaigns, we build sites for the traffic they will receive, and we follow the technical SEO requirements we would otherwise be asked to retrofit.

Signs you need it

The site is slow on mobile

Pages take several seconds to show content, and visitors leave before they see what you offer.

It looks dated or is hard to update

The design no longer reflects the business, and simple changes need a developer.

Visitors do not enquire

Traffic arrives, but the pages give no clear reason or route to get in touch.

A redesign is planned

You want a new site without losing the search traffic the current one earns.

What the service covers

Website design

Page layouts and a visual system designed around your content and the actions you want visitors to take, mobile first.

WordPress development

Custom themes built without bloated page builders, so the site is fast and your team can edit it safely.

Custom PHP development

Bespoke sites and tools where an off-the-shelf platform does not fit: booking flows, calculators, client areas, integrations.

Ecommerce development

WooCommerce and Shopify stores with sound category structure, product data and checkout tracking.

Landing pages

Single-purpose pages for advertising campaigns, built to load fast and tested to convert.

Speed optimisation

Image delivery, caching, script and font loading and server response improved on an existing site, measured before and after.

Maintenance and support

Updates, backups, security patches, uptime monitoring and small changes handled monthly.

Redesigns and migrations

URL mapping, 301 redirects, staging checks and post-launch monitoring so the new site inherits the old one's rankings.

How we work

  1. Discovery

We establish what the site must achieve, who uses it, what content exists and which current pages earn traffic.

  2. Structure and design

Sitemap and URL plan first, then wireframes and visual design. You approve each stage.

  3. Build

Development on a staging site, with content loaded, tracking installed and pages tested on real devices.

  4. Launch and support

Redirects go live with the site, Search Console is monitored for errors, and the site moves into maintenance.

What you receive

  • A sitemap and URL plan
  • Approved designs for key templates
  • A tested, responsive website
  • Analytics, conversion tracking and Search Console configured
  • A redirect map and launch checklist for redesigns

Who it suits

  • Local and service businesses that need a credible, fast site
  • Companies replacing an outdated or unmanageable website
  • Stores moving to or between ecommerce platforms
  • Marketing teams that need campaign landing pages

What it costs

Websites are quoted as fixed-price projects once the scope is agreed: number of templates, features, content and integrations. Maintenance is a monthly fee. Tell us what you need on the contact page.

Questions we are asked

Which platform will you build on?
WordPress for most content-led business sites, because it is flexible and easy to edit. Custom PHP where the requirements do not suit a CMS. WooCommerce or Shopify for stores. We recommend one after hearing what the site must do.
How long does a new website take?
A small business site typically takes six to ten weeks from agreed scope to launch. Timing depends mostly on how quickly content and feedback come back.
Will a redesign hurt our search rankings?
It can if it is handled badly. We map every existing URL to its new equivalent, set up redirects, carry over titles and content that rank, and monitor Search Console after launch to catch problems early.
Can you improve our current site instead of rebuilding it?
Often, yes. If the structure is sound, speed optimisation and design improvements cost less than a rebuild. We will tell you honestly which makes more sense.
Will we be able to update the site ourselves?
Yes. Sites are built so that your team can edit text, images and pages without touching code, and we provide a short handover session.
Do you provide hosting?
We do not sell hosting. We recommend a provider suited to the site and manage the setup, so the account remains yours.
